You are guaranteed a warm welcome at Church Hill House, a 500 year old Tudor guest house in the centre of the attractive village of Wethersfield, situated in the rolling countryside on the Essex-Suffolk border.

We are situated conveniently for the market towns of Braintree, Halstead, Saffron Walden and Sudbury and within easy reach of Cambridge, Colchester and Bury St Edmunds.

The famously attractive village of Finchingfield is within 2 miles and Thaxted, 'home' of Gustav Holst and Dick Turpin, 5 miles away. The house is in the centre of Wethersfield, at the edge of the village Green and directly opposite the historic Parish Church. The house has a large attractive walled garden at the rear, with an interesting old well.

The house is Grade 2 listed and heavily beamed, yet providing two comfortable en-suite double bedrooms and a single, also ensuite, with excellent breakfast facilities.
All bedrooms rooms are equipped with multichannel flat screen televisions and tea and coffee making facilities, with mini fridges for fresh milk.

Oak suite
The Oak Suite comprises a large beamed room with vaulted oak beamed ceiling and exposed kingposts and an adjoining large bathroom, also with vaulted ceiling. The room is only available for double occupancy.

The bedroom is equipped with a four poster bed, bed-side tables with lamps, built-in wardrobe, old pine chest of drawers, television, alarm radio, as well as tea and coffee making facilities.

A built-in mini fridge is equipped with fresh milk and orange juice. Fitted carpets thoughout.

The Oak Suite overlooks the attractive walled garden at the rear of the house.

Both bedroom and bathroom are centrally heated and an electric underblanket is fitted to warm the bed prior to occupancy!

Tudor Suite
The Tudor Suite comprises an antique French double bed in one room and a single bed in a separate room; the two rooms sharing an en suite bathroom/toilet. It is thus ideal for a couple with one child, although this suite is equally available for a single or twin let as required. The French bed has a ‘ciel de lit’ with voile drapes.

Tudor is at the front of the house with a view on to the Parish Church. Secondary glazing gives protection from any noise and blackout curtains are fitted, as the windows are South facing.

Facilities include television and radio in each room,built-in wardrobe, dressing table, writing desk, central heating, tea and coffee
making facilities and electric underblankets.
A built-in mini-fridge is equipped with fresh milk.The bathroom dedicated to the Tudor Suite is decorated in an India theme, with oriental rugs over the original oak and elm floorboards.

The bathroom is equipped with toilet, wash hand basin and bath with pressurised shower over. It is centrally heated.
Towels, face flannels, dressing gowns and toiletries are provided.

Meals
Breakfast is served between 7.30am and 9.30am in the beamed dining room. For early flights from Stansted, earlier breakfasts can be arranged.

For evening meals there are two pubs; The Dog and The Brewery Tavern, both are only one minute’s walk from Church Hill House. There are also several recommended pubs and restaurants within a short car journey.

Location
Church Hill House is situated in the centre of a small attractive village in North Essex about 35 miles North West of London. The nearest train station is Braintree, with frequent trains to London Liverpool Street, Colchester etc.

There is a direct bus service from Wethersfield to Braintree and Chelmsford, and a bus connection from Braintree to Stansted airport.
