Ye Olde Merry Day Out...This two-day family fun event occurs twice in Essex, at Brentwood in May and Southend in July. Tied in with the popular theme of Robin Hood, this show promises fun for both families and adults; the show highlights a highly-entertaining range of country leisure pursuits and features continuous arena events such as world class jousting displays and spectacular flying owls. From a fun and educational medieval village allowing children to experience what life would be like in the Middle Ages, to exciting BMX stunt shows, falconry displays, karate performers and a paintball firing range.
Exciting game and country attractions include firing ranges, clay shoots, game meat preparation, country apparel shopping, ferreting displays, falconry, coursing demonstrations and many gun dog activities, along with the chance to meet many of the top celebrity names.
The event also runs adjacent to the All About Dogs Show. With a canine focus right through the day, you are encouraged to bring your dog and partake in a great number of activities, competitions and variety of dog shows. Some activities include an agility course, Lurcher racing, Flyball competitions, Fun Dog Shows, Gundog scurries, an aquatic long-jump style event called Dock Dogs and bowlfuls more!
NEW FOR 2012 EQUESTRIAN SECTION with the knight’s stables and encampment, and Natural Horsemanship demonstrations. So if you’re into your horses don’t miss the chance to come stroke, feed and talk about these gorgeous creatures with like-minded people and professionals.
Guests can visit Friar Tuck’s Festival of Food and Drink, along with shopping opportunities from Maid Marion’s Lifestyle Village, and Little Johns Craft and Gift marquee, to Fisherman’s Wharf and Countryman’s Walk.
