Blackwater Rose was launched on the Chelmer & Blackwater Navigation in 2001 as a traditional Tug-style trip boat. With a traditional diesel engine, and a Boatmans Cabin with an Edwardian Stove and canalware decoration, Blackwater Rose offers a unique way to spend some time on the river for that special day out.

Up to 12 passengers can be carried for either 1 hour short trips, or longer private charters. Guided trips are also available. Charter prices start from £100 for 2 hours. Sunday 1 hour trips from Easter to October. Tickets: £5.00 Adult £3.50 Child (2-16 years) The front deck seating area is protected under a weather canopy, from where river views can be enjoyed.

There are also internal cabins with toilet and hand wash facilities. So why not make that Birthday or Anniversary a special event with a private charter on the Blackwater Rose, and bring along your food and drink refreshments, then relax or celebrate in style. You can sit and enjoy the tranquil river while letting your skipper take you on a relaxing cruise or, if you wish, get more involved helping to operate the Locks, or perhaps try your hand at tiller steering under the supervision of your Qualified Skipper. The Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation flows between Chelmsford and Maldon in rural Essex and we offer the perfect way to visit these historic rivers, with restored watermills, that were once used by horse drawn barges.
