Description

Traditional front garden, shrubs, perennials, annuals and bulbs provide seasonal colour. Clematis walk leads to rear garden which fuses colourful perennials with bold leaved and exotic species. Towering bamboos, palms and bananas. Strange and exotic flowers add to tropical feel. Many seating areas. Spiritual sculpture and water add interest. Dense planting with narrow paths shows how a small suburban garden can appear much larger. An urban oasis. A good way to avoid the crowds is to book a private view with optional home-made cakes or cream tea. Solar and candle lit evening opening. The evening opening allows visitors to enjoy the garden lit by solar and candle light towards the end of the season.

New for 2010 - home made preserves!

The front garden, developed in the autumn of 2007 contains a succession of bulbs together with shrubs, perennials and annuals providing colour throughout the year. A welcome sight in an urban landscape these days. The Clematis walk, under-planted with ferns and pelargoniums links this garden to the rear.
The vista back from the bench in the arbour is delightful. In high contrast to the front garden is the exuberant, dense planting of the south-facing rear garden. Towering Echium, Musa, bamboo and Arundo rise above palms, ferns, exotic shrubs and vibrant flowers. The garden has been designed to create rooms with seating to enjoy different vistas. A Mediterranean patio, housing a collection of insectivorous plants nestles besides the productive conservatory with peppers and bougainvillea. The winding oak path leads through the planting to the butterfly bench, overlooking the pond, fed by a winding stream. Sumptuous sculptural planting surrounds a dining area, concealed from the house, whilst a cool arbour is scented with Jasminium, Trachelospermum and Lonicera. Beyond the main garden and accessed through a bamboo grove is the sun deck. A large statue of Buddha forms a dramatic focal point through the bamboo. One wall carries a grape vine whilst the back border contains Musa, bamboo, Sambucus, Robinia, Dicksonia and Jasminium. Filled with colourful pelargoniums, an ideal place to soak up the sun. The plunge pool is surrounded by vibrant fuchsia. Lit by solar lighting and candles for the evening openings it takes on a magical feel.
