With the farmer, producer or grower manning the stall, it's the ideal opportunity to find out exactly where it comes from, the ingredients it contains and importantly, the food miles it has travelled!

The popularity of Farmers' Markets has soared in recent years as more and more customers opt to choose food with provenance. It's also given farmers and other producers a welcome chance to sell direct to the public.

With what's on offer varying, depending on the season, you can be sure of an ever changing choice at your local Farmers' Market.

At Essex Farmers' Markets we always give priority to the most local producer and then provide products that are unavailable from producers further a field.

Much has been said about the benefits of reducing food miles in the food chain and at Essex Farmers' Markets we feel there is a different angle! As well as providing local producers, in the town centres where we operate, we are providing local people with produce in a location that they visit regularly. Surely this has an even greater benefit to the environment by taking people out of their cars and providing fresh produce on their doorstep. By not asking people to travel miles to out of town venues, this must be the way forward.

Brentwood - High Street/Baytree Shopping Centre
Brentwood Farmers' Market will be taking place on the 1st Saturday of each month. A great venue for sourcing great food.

Epping - High Street
Epping Farmers' Market takes place on the 1st Friday of the month in the High Street. A great venue for sourcing great food! Always a busy market.

Gants Hill - Valentine's Mansion, Valentine's Park, Cranbrook Road, Ilford
Brand new venue in front of this historic house which has recently been total restored to its former glory.

Old Harlow - Old Harlow High Street
Old Harlow Farmers' Market takes place on the 3rd Saturday of the month in Old Harlow High Street. A great venue for sourcing great food! Always a busy market.

Southend-on-Sea - High Street
Southend-on-Sea Farmers' Market takes place on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month and is located in the High Street. Probably the busiest Farmers' Market in Essex, this is a venue that boasts an excellent range of products. Always popular with the public.

Upminster - Station Road, Upminster
Situated outside Roomes in Upminster close to the station. It runs on the first Thursday of each month. The local public have badgered Havering council to provide this market for the residents of Upminster, and as such is always a busy market. A broad cross section of foods are available.

Wanstead - High Street
A well located farmers' market in the heart of Wanstead.
