Halstead Beat-a-Fest
In 2010 Linda Hilton was looking for a way to make further use of Halstead Public Gardens and to do something positive for the youth of our town.

A thriving open mic circuit was the inspiration she needed to combine two of her passions – an outlet for budding young musicians to play to an audience, for possibly the first time, in award-winning surroundings.
With the help of Lia Stephenson and Clive Walker,
(both regular performers at open mic nights) the first Beat-a-Fest was held last year, attracting acts of all ages and all levels of experience…… and, just as importantly, an appreciative crowd.
Due to public support and by kind permission of The
Friends of Halstead Public Gardens and Halstead Town Council, Halstead Beat-a-Fest will be held again this year on Saturday 25th June, 3pm – 7pm. Three aspiring college bands are amongst the many inspiring performers who have expressed an interest in playing for what promises to be an afternoon that will have something for every listener’s taste.
Here’s to finding the hidden gem!

To keep the event completely free and with a relaxed atmosphere, there will not be any refreshment stalls on site, but you are welcome to bring a picnic and/or use the local amenities within a stone’s throw of the gardens.
Performers should see Linda, Lia or Clive on the day to book a slot – if you don’t already know one of them; you’ll soon work out who they are!
