Claverings is a small family run farm situated in the village of Greenstead Green on the Essex/Suffolk border with 200 acres of mainly arable land, and has been in the May family for almost 100 years.

Dating back to the 16th century and as well as being a Grade II listed building, the main farm house is also a scheduled Essex County Council Ancient Monument as it has a moat all the way round.

Claverings is a working farm and there are active changes throughout the year; from hay making and harvest in the summer, through to working the land in the autumn – no two weeks are ever the same. As well as being a working farm, Claverings also offers livery stables, with grazing, a floodlit rubber manege, lunging arena and a summer grass jumping paddock is also available.

Converted from a Cart Lodge and sleeping between two and six people, Claverings Farm Holiday Lodges offers quality self catering accommodation in an attractive setting and is situated in a beautiful location at the front of our working farm, opposite our duck pond full of ornamental wildfowl and our resident peacocks.

We can tailor your stay to suit your every need; including booking excursions, arranging transport, supplying picnic hampers or customising your welcome pack with local produce from the award winning Greenstead Green Farm Shop. Whether you are in the area visiting relatives, attending a wedding or event, or exploring all that the Essex countryside has to offer, we aim to make your stay as stress free and memorable as possible.

Our three lodges; Mallard, Whistler and Appleyard, have been tastefully furnished in a contemporary style to a very high standard with the comfort of our guests in mind.

Mallard is the largest lodge, and can accommodate up to six people, while Whistler and Appleyard can comfortably accommodate four people.

Appleyard is also suitably equipped for our visitors with restricted mobility and all lodges are built on one level and have ramped access.

An ideal place to sit and relax while enjoying the surroundings over a cup of tea or a meal is our pleasant landscaped garden area. Complete with tables and chairs you will find this tranquil setting behind the lodges.

Secure parking is available for up to five cars and for your security, access to the lodges is by electric gates operated by your key fob, and CCTV will be in operation.
