Saturday 13th March to Monday 3rd May 2010
The Loughton Festival
The Loughton Festival 2010 will include all of the talks, walks, concerts and other events that Loughton’s residents have now come to expect. The theme in 2010 will be: ‘Creativity and Epping Forest’.
Talks in previous years have shown how famous artists and authors were inspired by Epping Forest. This year's main author will be Charles Dickens but we will also be highlighting the work of Hesba Stretton, Arthur Morrison and WW Jacobs who all had connections to the Loughton area.
The 2010 Loughton Festival will provide plenty of inspiration for anyone wanting to have a go at writing or sketching themselves. There will be readings, three art exhibitions and a drop-in art workshop, facilitated by the Loughton Art Group, in association with the City of London Corporation.
Last year the Loughton Festival raised around £2,000 for local charities, including Save the Children, the Loughton branches of the RBL and the RNLI, and the Loughton Resource Centre. In 2010, the recipients of the festival fundraising will be the pupils of Oak View Special School, and Dream Factory, a charity that makes dreams come true for children who are seriously ill.
