Jousting Conquest at Hedingham Castle
Come along to Hedingham and witness a merry spectacle, the chivalric knights undergo a test of skill and nerves, as the horses thunder along tilt with the aim of establishing themselves in a position of rank. Peter Optical the court jester will be here to show his mastery of the skills involved in keeping the mighty lord entertained, marvel at his tales of old. Jousting Tournament at Hedingham Castle
History comes to life; Hedingham Castle gives visitors the chance to watch the breathtaking mounted skill at arms event from an era of chivalry, the daring knights will compete to show the lord that they deserve honour and riches for protecting them and their lands. You might think the job as resident rat catcher was dull, but come and meet him and listen to his tales and find out why he was perhaps the most important person in the medieval keep. Watch in awe as Gordon trains his mighty birds of prey to supply the lord with game for his feasting table. Have a go at medieval style archery under the watchful eye of the castle’s archers.

Someone Who'll Watch Over Me by Frank McGuinness - The Headgate Theatre
Black Ram Theatre Company for Headgate Theatre Productions
This highly acclaimed play was inspired by McGuinness' conversations with Brian Keenan, who in 1986 was abducted in Beirut, kept in underground cells and denied all contact with the outside world until his release four and a half years later. The play tells of Keenan and two fellow captives held hostage together in a small cell. Powerless to escape, they survive by resorting to elaborate flights of fancy and games of the imagination, using their humour to rescue each other from the brink of insanity. "This play is extremely funny...the best thing I've seen in a long time." (The Times).

The Lord and the Company of Saint Joseph are again on tour around East Anglia, we are privileged that Hedinghams majestic Norman Keep will become a home from home for the whole medieval household. Come and meet Jonathan the court jester, and if you are lucky learn a few tricks. Learn how to be a squire in the service of a powerful lord or be a princess for the day. World War II Show - Hedingham needs you!
Meet the Hero’s of World War Two, Hedingham will be offering visitors the opportunity to see how England civil defence protected Britain during the war and learn about what is was like to live as a nation at war. Also come along and meet the soldiers as they train to go and fight. Marvel at the mighty military vehicles of the period. Hedingham Castle is pleased to welcome back the famous Hugh Rainey Band to give an authentic sound to the whole day with 1940’s music.
