Colchester Zoo is now offering its visitors a modern way to explore the zoo with the new Colchester Zoo app which is available free of charge on iPhone and Android phones. With a wide range of features to enhance a visitor’s day out at the zoo, the app offers a different way to discover more about the zoo and the conservation of its animals and fun features like ring tones and wall papers.

The new app gives visitors the opportunity to plan their visit and ensure they do not miss out on their favourite displays by setting up a schedule for the day. They can then receive notifications to ensure that they don’t miss out any of the 50 feeds and display available during their visit. Visitors are also able to navigate themselves around the zoo using an interactive map providing links through to information about the animals.

Other interactive features of the app include a sound board, ringtones and downloadable wallpapers of animals at the zoo. For visitors who are interested in discovering more about their favourite animals both in the zoo and in the wild, there is detailed information on the species and exhibits at Colchester Zoo as well as information all about animals in the wild.

The app will enable visitors to keep up to date with zoo news and upcoming events as well as offering the chance for visitors to keep in touch with Colchester Zoo via Facebook and Twitter. Visitors can also use the app to book tickets, adopt an animal, book an unforgettable animal experience or even a birthday party at Colchester Zoo. “We hope that it will become an important facility for Colchester Zoo fans to get as much as possible out of their visit whilst they are on the move, before or after or even during their visit” commented Zoological Director, Anthony Tropeano.
