Description

The Boathouse in Dedham is known to many locals and visitors as the place to hire a rowing boat or enjoy an ice cream down by the river, but there have been quite a few changes since Cameron & Claire Marshall bought the business in March 2002.

In September 2002 after completing the first ‘season’ in Dedham, Cameron & Claire closed the Café and made the transformation from Café to Restaurant. A bar was built, a complete new kitchen added, as was gas central heating.
New fixtures and fittings completed the final style of modern and contemporary yet warm and inviting.

Cameron and his kitchen brigade produce a fusion of style and flavours with items on the menu changing every 6-8 weeks, while Claire and her ‘front of house’ team endeavour to serve good food & drink with efficient friendly service. And all this, in tranquil surroundings on the River Stour.

For many years dating back to the nineteen hundreds, Dedham has been known as the place to hire a Rowing Boat. We have carried on that tradition and have 26 Clinker built Rowing Boats all for hire from 30 minutes to an hour or more for a leisurely row along the river Stour.

Flatford Mill, the Mill made famous by John Constable is just a mile and a half row along the river if you are feeling energetic.

We continue to hire out the rowing boats during the summer months from Easter to September and have built a new building in order to do so.

We will be serving teas; coffees, ice creams etc, and have a large outside seating area next to the Boatshed.
