Description

Colchester Zoo is now one of the finest Zoos in Europe due to a constant programme of development and recently won the coveted "Large Visitor Attraction of the Year" Award from the East of England Tourist Board. With over 270 species to see, set in 60 acres of beautiful parkland and lakes, Colchester Zoo is well worth a visit.

You can now come along to our brand new state of the art enclosure, Orangutan Forest, which has cost around £1.75 million pounds to complete.

Including a brand new Orangutan indoor climbing area, a living coral reef and endangered Asian Pond Turtles, it is at the forefront of modern zoo design.

You can see sea lions swimming above your heads at 'Playa Patagonia', the new "Dragons of Komodo" or penguins swimming at Penguin Shores. Plus you can watch some of our African animals roaming together at Kingdom of the Wild with a number of beautiful African Elephants in Spirit of Africa opposite giving you the feeling of being on a real Safari. Colchester Zoo also has some of the rarest big cats in the world including a White Tiger, Amur tigers and two Amur leopards.

With over 30 daily displays, the newly refurbished soft play area – Kalahari Capers, 4 adventure play areas, three trains and more, Colchester Zoo is a fabulous day out.

Operating Hours
Last admissions are one hour before closing, customer services, catering and Retail outlets will usually close at least one hour prior to the Zoo grounds. Please note that the zoo car parks close a maximum of 30 minutes after the zoo closes.

* 09:30 - 18:00 Easter – September, June & July to start of holiday.
* 09:30 - dusk (or 5pm if later) October - March

Colchester Zoo is a full day out, so do get here early!
