Description

Here at Clacton Zoo we are located in a beautiful and very unusual setting, a two hundred year old Martello tower with a five metre high wall and drawbridge which is thought to be the only one in the world.

We have two beautiful alpacas, nuzzle and scratch, two pigs, two pigmy goats, two young Cameroon sheep, two miniature Palma wallabies, various rabbits & guinea pigs, and many types of birds from peacocks, golden pheasants, Californian quail, turkeys to various chickens. We also have a rooftop garden with far reaching views over the sea, with a one minute walk to the beach and five minutes to the pier. We also have many signs to teach the children all about the animals so they will have plenty to learn.

Animals do get rotated to give them a rest.

We offer refreshments here at Clacton Zoo: teas, coffee, soft drinks, cakes, sweets, sandwiches etc. All food is to be consumed inside the tower where we have tea rooms.

We have disabled toilets located inside the tower and hand washing facilities inside and out.

Clacton Zoo is five minutes from Clacton train station on the sea front. If coming to Clacton by road follow signs to seafront and we are five minutes' walk west from Clacton Pier. We back onto Clacton hospital and many buses pass our zoo.

Due to the age of the building and restrictions we have no lifts so access is down a flight of steps making wheelchair access restricted.

If you've had fun on your family day out to Clacton Zoo, tell us about your visit, so other people will know it's a great place to go as well.

Opening times: 11am till 5pm 7 days a week (closed 1st November and re-opens Easter)
