The Colchester Country Show
Colchester is to host its first ever Town & Country Show over the weekend of 24th & 25th April in the beautiful setting of Lower Castle Park, right in the heart of the Town.
With something for everyone, from Horkesley Park’s Heavy Horse Demonstration Team, birds of prey flying displays as well as the Essex 44th Regiment of Foot re-enactment group, Newfoundland Dogs, Donkey rides, children's farm, ferrets, as well as children's Puppet Shows and on Sunday the Companion Dog Show - so bring along a canine friend and have a go! (And all proceeds from entries will go to Marie Curie Cancer Care)
And if that's not all - as well as stick furniture making there will also be other rural demonstration skills to enjoy including braiding, spinning and weaving and country chair making, together with Cookery demonstrations and wine tasting throughout the weekend and you can sample and buy in our Arts, Crafts and Gifts marquees as well as Lifestyle and Food Stalls.

Westwood Park Summer Fair
The Westwood Park Summer Fair, a new event at the home of the Suffolk Punches north of Colchester where we combine the opening of the Gardens with a traditional weekend for the family and a chance to meet the farm’s animals.
We are delighted to have been invited by the Bunting family whose home and family businesses are based at beautiful Westwood Park, to launch a new summer show; one that we feel will become very much part of the circuit in years to come. Nestled in affuent commuter belt country, just to the north of Colchester in Essex, Westwood Park offers 16 acres of stunning gardens (not usually open to members of the public), woodland walks and trails as well as being the home of the Horkesley Park Suffolk Punch Display team who will be on hand throughout the weekend demonstrating a range of skills including ploughing and other working skills, dray rides.
Entertainment will include the Horkesley Park Suffolk Punch Horse Demonstration Team, children's farm, . Arts, craft and gift marquees as well as lifestyle and food hall stands will give you the chance to sample and buy unique products.
There will also be cookery and wine tasting demonstrations as well as a hands-on Conservation Area. (Charges Apply)

The Jaylympics Free Sporting Event
The Jaylympics, free sporting event for all ages is being held in Jaywick on Sunday 25th July between 11am & 3pm as part of the Essex Legacy 2012 Open Weekend in celebration of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The event is free of charge and is aimed at all ages to 'come and join in' with a sports activity. Throughout the day we have taster sessions taking place including beach volleyball, yoga, organised cycling, walks, mini-athletics, football, sandcastle building and lots more! We also have a judo display and kite display on the beach. The bike doctor will be on hand all day so bring your bicycle along for a cycle safety check and basic repairs - all free of charge!

Teddy Bears' Picnic at Marks Hall
A special treat has been arranged at Marks Hall Gardens and Arboretum, for Teddy bears, and other cuddlies, provided they bring their young friends with them!
The date is Thursday 29th July when Marks Hall storyteller, Lorraine Barfoot, will be leading children through more of her entrancing stories and organising a bear hunt, to end with a picnic, all in the wonderfully atmospheric setting of Marks Hall gardens. Marks Hall Gardens and Arboretum are open throughout the school holidays from Tuesday through to Sunday, and on Bank Holiday Monday. It’s Showtime Fundraisers Rally - Crafts Village
It's Show Time. This will be A & L Fundraisers sixth event to raise money in support of Little Havens Children's Hospice and will be at the new venue of Purleigh Halt, Barons Lane, Purleigh. There will be displays of vintage cars, motorcycles, heavy goods, steam, farming and craft demonstrations, models, tractors, stationary engines, stalls, ring events, live music, cart rides and attractions for children, bouncy castle, small roundabout, children's quad bike's etc. There will be a variety of hot food kiosks, ice creams, our own tea tent, toilets and ample parking. Other attractions are still being booked and will be added to our website as they are confirmed.

Arts, craft and gift marquees as well as lifestyle and food hall stands will give you the chance to sample and buy unique products.
