The 2 day event will be a celebration of local food, produce and arts and crafts. Live music will be provided by local band Red House and local hog roast and CAMRA beer will also be available to create what we hope will be a very enjoyable day out for all ages and interests. Wallasea Island Wild Coast is a unique place to visit and the area is rich in bird and plant life. To compensate for lost intertidal habitats elsewhere, work has recently started to recreate the mudflats, saltmarsh and saline lagoons which over the years have been lost so come along, have a great time and see the beginnings of an exciting RSPB coastal project which will be the largest of its kind in Europe.

Saturday 5th & Sunday 6th November 2011Guy Fawkes Experience at Royal Gunpowder MillsJoin us for our celebration of Gunpowder’s most infamous day in history.
Secret Island opens at 2.00pm on Saturday and Sunday, 5-6 November for two afternoons of fascinating events and activities telling the story of Guy Fawkes and his Gunpowder Plot, and concluding with a fabulous firework display.
See a light-hearted re-telling of the story of the plot in our theatre production, “The Ghost of Guy Fawkes” suitable for all ages and included in your admission price.
Meet soldiers and characters from the time, and learn about life and food of the Seventeenth Century. Have a go at our craft activities for children including how to make a Guy Fawkes lantern.
As darkness falls join in our traditional fireworks party with a spectacular 15 minute firework display, live music, and fairground rides for the little ones.
No bonfire night would be complete without something to eat, so visit our newly refurbished café, or for outdoor food our popular Barbecue and Bar will be open specially for the occasion.
NOTE: Due to the popularity of this event our car-park gets busy, so you may find it easier to park in Waltham Abbey, or if you live locally, why not walk?
