Welcome to the Riverside Inn....

A beautifully and delicately restored 17th century mill, standing on the River Chelmer, we can assure you a warm welcome and a great choice of freshly cooked food for any occasion.

Our secluded garden is a lovely, calm area to enjoy the summer away from the bustle of the city overlooking the river. In the winter the pub is an inviting and cosy place where groups or intimate gatherings can enjoy secluded corners amongst the old mill fittings.

With 8 welcoming bedrooms restored to combine the old with the new, we hope to offer you the warmest welcome in Essex.

Eating & Drinking
When it comes to our menu, we can offer something for everyone. The exposed brickwork and old beams give the Riverside Inn the wonderful charm of a traditional English country pub.
Whether you are simply having a pint after work, or enjoying a meal, the bars offer a wonderfully relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. When the weather is warm the main bar opens out on to our sunny decked garden.

The Dining Room
With an interior evoking the golden age of Tudor England in the beautiful setting of the Riverside Essex, the Dining Room is an exquisite setting for that important business meeting and a gorgeous backdrop to an intimate supper for two.

We serve traditional British cuisine with a modern twist and our menu changes weekly, depending on seasonality and what looks good on the day. We are confident that the Dining Room menu offers something for everyone, and what ever the occasion we look forward to welcoming you!

We welcome bookings and parties up to 40 people in the Dining Room!
The Garden
When the sun shines, the Riverside Inn garden is a secluded haven of calm overlooking the river and mill stream either side of the decked garden.

Many afternoons and evenings can be spent enjoying a cold beer, a chilled rose or a refreshing Pimms on a hot day, to transport you miles away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Bedrooms
All of our bedrooms have been beautifully refurbished in keeping with the building’s original features.

You can still expect all of the mod cons, with en-suite bathrooms and air conditioning. Each bedroom also provides a television, ironing facilities, tea and coffee making facilities, hair dryer and direct dial telephone. Complimentary Wifi access is available as part of your stay.

Location
Ideally situated 5 minutes from Chelmsford town centre and train station, yet still only 20 minutes by train from London’s Liverpool Street. Chelmsford also provides excellent links to the M25.
