Description

Established in 1960 by Mrs Cater in memory of her husband, William Alexander Cater, the museum houses relics of bygone Billericay and surrounding areas. Complete with three period room settings and a restored period garden, the museum displays objects from the earliest times up to the 1950's. The museum also features the popular "Billericay at War" display, a collection of 450 books, maps of the area and an extensive photographic collection.

Talks are given by staff to various local (and not so local) groups, including themed history days at local schools. Loan boxes are also available for schools. A programme of special events provides added interest. Check with the museum or museum website for future attractions.
