Southend Summercare Carnival Procession 2012 will be in the afternoon on 23rd June, in order that it can be part of Southend’s preparations for the 2012 Olympics.

Southend Carnival are extending the deadline for an additional two weeks for applications to become this year's Carnival Queen and Princess!

Carnival has been an integral part of Southend since its inception in 1906. Since then it has been dedicated to raising money for the town's charities, originally for Southend Victoria Cottage Hospital in Warrior Square.

Southend Carnival Court, Queen Shannon, Princesses Christina and Susannah are now making final preparations for the highlight of their reign, Southend Summercare Carnival 2012 which is less than 2 weeks away!

Last night Southend Carnival Court, welcomed other courts from around the South East and the National Carnival Guild to their Winter Dance. Donations were also made to the charities which Southend Carnival events in 2011 supported.

This year's procession had a new more modern feel to it with more entries from local businesses than before who took the opportunity to advertise their work for free to thousands of people.
