Lambing Night Watch at Marsh Farm Country Park
Be lucky enough to join our shepherd for this rare opportunity to help out in the lambing shed at night. Get close to the sheep and lambs, help bottle feed any orphan lambs and learn to look for the signs of a ewe lambing. Refreshments will be provided. Tickets will be available on a first come first served basis and can be booked from Monday 1st March. Please book early to avoid disappointment.

Leopards at Ussuri Falls Opening - Colchester Zoo
Saturday 27th March sees the official opening of Colchester Zoo’s brand new enclosure “Leopards at Ussuri Falls” and BBC Essex’s, Steve Scruton will be at the zoo to do the honours at 2pm!
Costing over £100,000, the new enclosure nearly triples in size the area of the leopards’ current home which incorporates more space in a more natural environment, with lots of height and areas for climbing, plus better viewing for our guests. As leopards are solitary in the wild, there will be separate enclosures for our male and female leopard and there will also be an area to mix them during the breeding season.

St. George's Day at Colchester Zoo
Colchester Zoo will be celebrating St. George's Day during the weekend of the 24th and 25th of April!
With plenty of patriotic events to enjoy come along to Colchester Zoo to celebrate living in England on St. George’s Day! Find out more about Colchester Zoo’s Dragons; the Komodo Dragons at a special training session and talk and have the chance to handle some smaller lizards yourself!
There will be other talks and feeds with the Crocodiles, plus the chance to see an English Bird Display as well as seeing George fighting the Dragon at the Display Arena! There will also be a story time at the Discovery Centre with Frazzle the Dragon and the chance to make St George’s Day cards. There will even be a free draw on the day to meet George, the Red Ruffed Lemur, up close and personal!

You will be able to explore the zoo after hours in an exclusive
behind the scenes tour of our main primate enclosures during this very special evening!
The evening will begin at 7pm and will include the opportunity to see the Lemur Islands and there you will have your first behind the scenes tour and special evening enrichment feed.
The guided evening stroll will take you on to watch the gelada baboons being fed at Gelada Plateau, to watch the cherry crowned mangabeys and spider monkeys enjoying a late supper and watch the excitement of the chimps having their enrichment feed at Chimp World. The tour finishes with the biggest highlight of all, going behind the scenes at Orangutan Forest.

Whether you are a parent, nursery, an early years group or a childminder, register for the Big Toddle- a short sponsored walk with a pirate theme for children under five.
The Barnardo’s Big Toddle is the biggest, brightest and best fundraising event for under 5s, and Colchester Zoo offers free entry for registered Toddlers and a discount for adults on the day.
All the money raised by Big Toddlers goes to locally-based Barnardo’s projects for children under 5 throughout the UK. It’s all about children helping children. The children’s charity works with vulnerable and disadvantaged children and their families, this includes supporting children affected by poverty, homelessness, disability, bereavement and abuse.

Beach Party - Colchester Zoo
It’s party season here at Colchester Zoo, so don your Hawaiian shirts and flower garlands and join a host of our water babies for a fun filled evening.
Enter inside the Playa Patagonia enclosure to meet the sealions as they show off in the water at a special training session.
Enjoy serving up a private fishy picnic on the beach for our penguins.
Get ‘snap happy’ with the crocodiles during a training session and enjoy a ‘turtally’ terrific time in Orangutan Forest with the Asiatic pond turtles and friends!
At the end of this event there will be a delicious buffet supper and a glass of wine waiting for you whilst a short presentation on conservation takes place and each evening will culminate with a charity auction with the opportunity to bid for some unique experiences to take part in at Colchester Zoo.

Guinea Pig Show at Marsh Farm Country Park
Bring your guinea pig to the farm and enter our popular guinea pig pet show. Entries will be taken on the day between 10am and 11am and you will be allowed one free entry to the farm per guinea pig entered. Please bring food and water for your guinea pigs, cages and bedding will be provided. Don’t worry if you don’t have a pet to enter, just come and marvel at all the guinea pigs on their best behaviour!

Open Day at Remus Memorial Horse Sanctuary
Come and meet all the animals including horses, ponies, donkeys, goats, sheep, pigs, cows, and cats. Learn more about the work of the Sanctuary. Stalls, refreshments, veggie BBQ, and much more. Come and see our conservation work and the many birds, insects and plant life on the Sanctuary. Many of the birds are on the BTO endangered list.
1pm to 5pm
