Winter Walkies!
Grab your wellies, it’s time for walkies!
On 29th January 2012 why not support St Clare Hospice at their 5km sponsored dog walk which starts and finishes at the hospice in Hastingwood. The walk starts at 10.30am. After the walk round the local Hastingwood countryside, there will be treats and even a medal for the pooches… soup and rolls will be provided for the owners! If you don’t have a pet to bring with you, please still come along to join us for a lovely countryside walk... there will be a prize for the ‘Best Wellies’!

Entry costs £10 per adult, £5 per child or £27.50 per family (two adults, two children) which includes warm refreshments. There are even prizes for the best dog and for the owners’ best wellies!

St George's Day Weekend at Colchester Zoo
This is a monster weekend at Colchester Zoo. Join us in celebrating our patron Saint as we lay on a host of extra activities for you to enjoy. You can witness a special komodo dragon or crocodile training session, take a mythological train ride, make dragon related crafts in the Discovery Centre, be amazed in the medieval themed bird show or join the jester for some not-so traditional story telling.
Plus there is the hilarious re-telling of “George and the Dragon” at the Displays arena and a chance for any novice knights to have a go at slaying a dragon themselves with our Dragon piñata.

Take a Walk on the Wild side!
Help us to help them! Join us in raising funds for Action for the Wild by taking part in our charity sponsored walk around the grounds of the zoo.
With a walk that takes you through several different continents viewing the wildlife on the way, where could be better to get fit, have fun and feel good about yourself. With prizes for the best Animal fancy dress, most money raised, and most laps achieved, it’s a brilliant day out for all the family.

Join us for this special event aimed at making the zoo fully accessible for all abilities with BSL interpreted feeds and special displays and shows!
The day will include BSL interpreted major feeds and displays from the main timetable, a sensory awareness zone to explore in the Discovery Centre and a special senses themed live animal show in the Wild About Animals Theatre!
There will also be close encounter sessions only for those that are registered as disabled, and will include a chance to meet the penguins, giraffes, elephants and some of the animals from the Familiar Friends section of the zoo.
