VE Weekend at Royal Gunpowder Mills
May bank holiday sees our popular annual Second World War event with historical re-enactors, military vehicles, and spectacular air displays, a Hurricane on Sunday, and the legendary Spitfire on Monday (Weather permitting). The Home Front during the war is also brought to life with music, dancing, theatrical performances, and foods of the period. Sunday and Monday afternoons also feature a noisy skirmish between the German and Allied re-enactors.

Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th May 2012
Southend Air Festival
2012 will be the 27th year that Southend-on-Sea has staged one of Europe's largest free Airshows. The two day Southend Air Festival is undoubtedly the most spectacular event in Southend's calendar. Staged against the backdrop of the Thames Estuary along almost 2 miles of seafront, aircraft displays will be featured from across the ages.
We've also provided a huge range of ground entertainment back on terra firma. There will be the RAF, Army, Navy and Royal Marine Town Shows, trade stands, rides, simulators, giant inflatable's and a packed arena programme of entertainment, to keep all of the family amused all day long.
BBC Essex will again be bringing you Radio Airshow on 1530MW, as well as providing the live commentary along the seafront.

Military & Flying Machines Show
Come along to Military & Flying Machines Show, the fastest growing military vehicle show in Essex at Damyns Hall Aerodrome in Upminster, for a fantastic family fun filled day on the 4th & 5th August 2012. The Military and Flying Machines is proud to announce that we are listed as a 'parallel event' for the 2012 Olympics, so we are expecting many visitors to the Olympics will take the time out to visit this magnificent and hugely entertaining show and sample a little bit of British heritage, history and hospitality.
Thousands attend each year to see hundreds of military and classic vehicles, over 60+ living history displays with trucks and troops, live entertainment all day, arena activities including a bunker bash skirmish attack on a pill box! The tanks are in town with tank parades, military, vintage and collector’s stalls, Tank and helicopter rides, battles, explosions, fire power demonstrations and more. It is a great value day out with so much to see, do and experience all in one place and at a fantastic price.

Clacton Air Show
2012 celebrates 21 years of the Clacton Air Show. The event organised by Tendring District Council, is a well established free event on the Essex Sunshine Coast.
Our award winning seafronts and greensward are transformed over the two days into a fun filled events site and viewing area. Impressive aerobatic displays take to the skies whilst a whole host of exhibition, trade stands, food court and on-site entertainment are available at ground level.
Each day will have a full flying programme and BBC Essex will be providing Radio Air show on 729am throughout the flying displays as well as providing live commentary. See you there!
